Before the boating holiday begins

After you have booked a ship we will send you a confirmation via email. This completes the booking.

The Hiswa general conditions are applicable to the rental contract.

Departure times
Our changeover days are Monday, Friday and Saturday. Depart at 15.00, return at 9.30. With exception of the Joanna, Martine, Sterre, Esmee, Louise, Sierra Lima and van Riebeeck. These ships depart at 16.00, return at 10:30.  A ship can be chartered for one week or a number of weeks. A weekend, a midweek or a combination of both is also possible. This is not the case with the ships that changeover on Saturday. These are only chartered for whole weeks.

  • Payment in instalments

Half the rental price is payable within two weeks of booking. The other half only has to be paid one month before departure.

  • All-risk insurance and security deposit

Our motoryachts are all-risk insured. The excess is payable by the hirer. The level of this is stated on the price list in the form of the security deposit. This security deposit, which is payable when you board the ship, will be paid back in full upon return of the rental ship free of damage. You can pay the security deposit with a bank debit card*, it can be paid by bank transfer (stating the invoice number), or it can be paid in cash. It is also possible to insure/buy out the excess. This means that the excess ceases to apply (with the exception of loss of equipment and wrongly estimating the clearance height). For a comprehensive summary of our prices, view the price list.

    * Payment via credit card is not (yet) possible.

  • Sailing without a motorboat licence
Rubberbootje huren bij de Schiffart Yachtcharter

No motorboat licence is required to sail our motoryachts. Naturally, everyone is given a technical explanation about the boat before they depart.

  • No experience?
    Fietsen mee op de boot

We advise anyone with no experience to take a few hours' instruction. We can organise this for our clients at a modest charge. This is given prior to departure, on the boat that has been chartered. The lesson is for the whole crew (including children) and is very enjoyable. Besides practical exercises, a lot of information is given about, among other things, the rules on who has priority, commercial shipping and navigation. Taking a lesson means you can sail off feeling more relaxed and assured.

  • Inventory on board

Our yachts are equipped as standard with a comprehensive inventory. When you make your booking we will send you an inventory list. The only things you need to bring with you, or which can be hired as extras, are: kitchen cloths, towels and the duvets + duvet covers* (under-sheets, pillows and pillow cases are present).

*with the exception of ships with a VIP package.

  • Cancellation insurance

When you make your booking you can also take out cancellation insurance with us, or storm and ice insurance. The cancellation insurance costs 5.5% of the bare charter price, and the storm and ice insurance costs 4% of the bare charter price.

  • Additional costs

The fuel consumed and the final cleaning, which is carried out by us, are for the account of the hirer. When you return we fill up the diesel tank from our mobile tank and this is then settled up.

Harbour, bridge and lock charges are not included in the rental price.
